I had a really great first impression of La Fonda. Mary Bernadette is really caring and empathetic and hospitable. And I loved the way the rooms were decorated. However, my last night I found two bed bugs at 4am. The night shift guy, Gabriel, said there was nothing he could do so to wait until 7am. I got out of my room with all my stuff and waited in the lobby. He asked if I was waiting for someone. I said “I’m the person with the bed bug. I can’t stay in my room.” He said “Because of one bed bug?” I told him I found two and caught one. I showed it to him. He said “Well I can tell them I found *something*.” And he asked if I didn’t have a car I could stay in. I said I did. And he asked if I had come with other people which made me feel uncomfortable. If Mary wasn’t so nice I’d give the place 1 star because this was unacceptable. I’m still here. It’s 5:39am and I’m waiting for 7am actually on the floor in the hallway because it’s dark in the lobby and bed bugs thrive in the dark. I’m so mad.
(Translation failed - API error)

The room was nice enough, clean, no bugs. The location seemed to be great and convenient at first but once night came it was a different story. Bunches of young people began pulling in their cars and congregating. Loud, bumping music, loud car exhausts, racing around the square began around 9pm and increasingly got worse. It didnt stop until around 1-2am. We tried keeping the volume in our TV in the room up to drown out the noise and sleep, which didnt help. The next night (Saturday) was slightly better. The kids didnt congregate thankfully, but the same ones with extremely loud exhausts started cruising through, speeding down each side of the square. Even through the streets around the plaza, these cars were ripping through the streets. Its just surprising that there was no control. We will not stay here again..so sorry. Not worth it.
(Translation failed - API error)

Great location, but..... Hallways, staircases were dirty - leaves, feathers, dirt. They need to vacuum and sweep throughout the day. The mini-split AC ran but did not blow cold. We set it for 61 (lowest setting) but our room remained around 85 at night and it was hard to sleep. The coffee pot in the room had moss/mold/fungus in the water reservoir area - gross. No coffee in the morning before we left. This could be a great little hotel, in a great location, but it needs better care and maintenance.
(Translation failed - API error)

It's a historic hotel. The bed was fine. The ice machine sucked and there were very few amenities. Our big issue though was with the lack of security. Anyone could get in or out without being seen. It was a bit unnerving although to be fair, they've obviously shipped out the homeless and criminal element for the sake of tourism. 🙄 (The city, not the hotel) The hotel was overpriced given the lack of amenities but, the location was fantastic! The staff was good and dealt with our AC problem. The AC needed to be reset. We had no idea. Also, it's split level and while there is an elevator, you can't completely avoid stairs. Anyway, everything in Taos closes ridiculously early FYI We will be back to Taos because we didn't see even half of what we could have.
(Translation failed - API error)
